In addition to recording for local bands and musicians, Neverending is also the recording site of the Live860 podcast. live860 is a biblical podcast associated with Church860, hosted by Rob Chandler and Khris Rogers.  In this podcast, Rob and Khris break down important stories from the bible, identifying their lessons and real world applications.

Throughout my two months at Neverending studios, I’ve assisted with setup and troubleshooting ahead of the Thursday night recording times, but only stayed for a full session in the past few weeks. Setup is fairly easy, as Rob has a semi-permanent installation in the back of his control room including a Shure SM7B and an EVRE20. Setup involves checking the levels, adjusting the digital cameras to clearly show the two hosts to the viewers at home. We’ve experienced several issues in this step, mainly unclean audio stemming from bad cables, a finicky mute button, and other hardware issues.

I’ve been present for two recording sessions (4/16 and 4/23), and both went off fairly smoothly, with only a minor recording issue in the first. Both sessions lasted roughly an hour, and were laid back, with minimal teardown required.

I was able to garner decent editing experience the following mornings. In addition to splicing in protools, Rob uses an ai program called Descript to identify vocal flubs, noises, and pauses. After giving me the opportunity to help edit the 4/23 podcast in pro tools, which helped me practice my editing skills. I primarily used shuffle mode and cross fades to seamlessly cover up mistakes and blend clips. I believe through these experiences, I was able to observe a fluid setup for podcast recording, involving very minimal setup and teardown. I was also able to refine my editing skills in pro tools, so I may hopefully apply these skills to podcast editing in the future.
